Made circa 1930 in Montluçon by Jules Lavest. LOB 359. Branded inside. This instrument remains in mint condition.
It was never played by a musician, but was probably the property of collector or investor.
It has a wonderful, rich and big sound on the bright side. It is a concert type violin.
Lavest made various models after Stradivarius, Guarnerius, Vuillame, Guadagnini, and Pillot. He worked mainly in Mirecourt, but also in Dieudonné. His varnishes are distinctly deep.
